Discussion Forums Quick Instructions
On the Internet, discussion forums, also known as discussion boards, and online forums, are the social media meeting places. Briefly, they are online bulletin boards where people with similar interests can discuss different topics. It is a powerfull tool that can enhance communication and exchange of knowledge between you and other members of MAARC. Let us go through a brief introduction on how to use this tool.
1) Overview of the 'Discussion Forums' and how to access the tool
The main Board Index page displays a list of the 11 available discussion Forums. This Discussion Board can contain one or more Forums. A Forum is a place where a topic or a group of related topics are discussed. For each Forum, the page displays the total number of topics, the number of posts, and the last post author. Also, the number of unanswered posts, who is online, the total number of participants, among other statistics is shown at the top and bottom of the page. Take a quick glance on the main Board Index page to better understand its structure.
You have to register in order to post messages. Registration also will give you access to additional features not available to guest users such as definable avatar images, private messaging, emailing of fellow users, among others. It only takes a few moments to register, please, do so if you are a member of MAARC Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio Club.
To Register, click on either 'Register' words on the top tab or on the top right of the Board Index page. Next, you should agree with the MAARC Forums terms. Then, fill out the registration form and click 'Submit'. The Discussion Board administrators will take care of the final registration step. That is all, very simple and easy! The next time you enter the site just Click Login.
Now, you are ready to read and make your own posts. To do so, Click on the Forum Name to enter it so that you can read the posts and make posts of your own on each open topic or even open a new topic. Click the Unread Posts to collect all the unread posts into a sortable format.
2) About 'Topics' and 'Posts", how to view them, and how to create new ones
Within each Forum there is a list of posted topics (each topic is the first post subject) and within each topic a list of posts (besides the first post you will see all reply posts). To enter a Topic and view respective responses, click on the Topic name. Also, you can create a new topic by clicking "NEWTOPIC" and, within each topic, a new post by clicking either 'POSTREPLY" or "Quick Reply". Once you have accessed a forum and its topics, you can reply to anyone who has posted to that topic.
3) How to enter text in a post
To create a new post, go to the specific forum you want to make the post. Click "NEWTOPIC" to open the Post page. Once on the page:
a) Type your subject. The text entered in this field will appear as the name of the topic.
b) Type your message.
c) Attach a file if desired. A photo for example.
d) Click "Submit".
To reply to a post, click the post to which you want to reply. Click "POSTREPLY" to open the Reply to Post page.
a) Enter a new subject, or leave unchanged.
b) Enter your reply in the message area.
c) Include attachments if desired.
d) Click "Submit".
Alternatively, you may click "Quick Reply" and fill out the quick reply form.
4) The above instructions are more than enough to get you going for a new post or a reply.
Click here and start making your own posts! Good Luck!

ABOUT MAARC and RADIO AGE
Radio Age became the monthly newsletter of the Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio Club in June 1994. Prior to that date, the MAARC Newsletter and Radio Age were separate publications.
Subscription to Radio Age begins with the most recently available issue after the membership application and dues are received. Dues are $24 per year in the US, $36 in Canada, and $60 elsewhere, all payable in US dollars. Two-year, three-year, and life membership are available. The Membership application is available at this link. All checks are payable to MAARC and, for new members, must accompany the membership application, which is available from the Membership Chair or the MAARC website under menu 'Membership'. If you change your mailing address, email, or phone number, please notify the Membership Chair (see email address in your most recent copy of Radio Age) immediately so corrections can be made to Radio Age's mailing list. The Post Office will not forward your newsletter.
Back issues of the MAARC Newsletter from Vol. 1, No. 1 (August 1984) and most issues of Radio Age from Vol. 1, No. 1 (October 1975) are available for $3.50 each postpaid to Membership Chair. Ten percent (10%) discount on orders of 12 of more back issues and 15% on orders of 60 or more back issues. Make checks payable to MAARC.
Electronic copies of all Radio Age editions are available to members through the "Members Only" section of the website. To register for "Members Only" access, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (see email address in your most recent copy of Radio Age).
Submissions to Radio Age are welcomed. Typewritten copy is preferred to handwritten. Articles should be submitted in PC format, preferably via email or on a CD or flash drive, in MS Word, Word Perfect, WOrdpad, or RTF format, without fancy formatting, because the editors will have to modify it anyway. Photographs, if hard copy, should be high quality black and white or color. Softcopy graphics files should be in TIFF or JPEG formats; contact the editors for further guidance. Send you submission to any of the editors (see email address in your most recent copy of Radio Age) and include your name, address, phone, and email.
