Zenith shutter dial 9s262 motor open

Postby tardellwebster » August 2nd, 2014, 3:18 pm

I recently purchased a Zenith shutter dial 9s262. I have it mostly restored except for the fact that the motor for the electric tuning is open. Does anyone have an idea of where I can get another motor?

Have you looked at repairing the existing motor? Check www.philcoradio.com for Zenith 9-S-262 Restoration Chronicles. the second page has the motor disassembled. I can't tell if the laminations are riveted together or not, but the coil should be able to be removed. You could measure the wire diameter and get some new wire and rewind the coil pretty easily. Just count the turns and rewind by hand. There doesn't appear to be that many turns, and the wire is fairly thick, it shouldn't break when rewinding. I can send a wire chart size if you need it. You need a micrometer to measure the diameter.
